They were first time parents, and she nearly obsessed with ensuring that the house and nursery were completely safe and free of allergens and substances that can harm newborns. I had decided I was going to take care of the crib bedding. Since the crib itself had already been purchased, I chose a Starlight Support crib mattress, an Allergy Armor Ultra crib encasing, and the Moonlight Slumber Organic cotton blanket. What I like about the Organic Crib Blanket The blanket arrived fairly quickly, and while it’s always nice to get a gift that is unopened, I wanted to examine the blanket before giving it as a gift. The quality seemed to be good, well sewn, and the cotton itself was soft. The material is warm, and the size is just right for newborns and babies. I heard nothing but good things about the blanket from my friends! Though it’s not a soft as microfiber, it also lacks the chemicals that modern microfiber fabrics often have. It stays soft through multiple washings and hasn’t degraded or fallen apart. Being cotton, it was the perfect blanket to keep the baby warm at home, in the carrier and on the go. The Moonlight Slumber organic blanket provides peace of mind that your baby is safe, comfortable and warm without worrying about exposure to chemical residues that accompany most modern textiles. Lastly, it is made here in the U.S., and while that may not matter to some people, to others it is important. The cotton is grown in Texas, and the blankets are constructed in Illinois. What I don’t like about the Organic Crib Blanket The lack of color choices is a drawback. While a lot of people lean toward traditional blue or pink for baby products, the Moonlight Slumber organic blanket is very neutral in color. This will often be the case though with organic products. Often with an organic blanket you won’t see a lot of color options to avoid the use of dyes or other potentially toxic chemicals. Overall, I was very pleased with this Organic Baby Blanket. It did everything I had hoped for my godson and his parents. Coupled with a Starlight Support mattress, it was the perfect addition to the chemical-free, allergen free bedding set.
